Day 16

Got up and was able to make brekky outside my room.
Packed up and did a little self-guided tour of "town."
School: opened and closed and opened numerous times over the years.
General store: burnt down in the 60s
Australasian Hotel: good flooded, became a boarding house for school kids, severely damaged by storms in the 60s, later demolished.
RFDS clinc: building originally funded by a local station, now funded and maintained by the CWA
Blacksmith: used to service Cobb & Co. and stations.
Police Station: opened and closed and opened like the school. Still has an outback cell with wire mesh door.
Tea at the Royal last night was yum. The  building is built to last. Heavy solid walls, it's not going anywhere.

On the road east to Charleville.

Stopped and read a memorial just out of Quilpie.
Pulled over to make and eat a quick lunch at Cooladdie, it's never lonely out here 🪰
The drive to Charleville was a very boring one. In a motel for the next couple of nights to have a rest, do the washing, and plan the next direction.

Still not coming home yet.
