Day 15
All night there was light rain, it didn't stop 'til 6am. We got up to a very wet and slippery camp ground. Not looking great for getting out of here.
Over brekky and a cautious packup, we observed 2 caravans get out. If they can get out, so can we! Car into 4H and traction control off... hang on! Kept the momentum up, used some grass spots and got out.
As the Variety Bash folk are staying in Charleville tonight we decided to go the other way and stay at Quilpie. Last time we were here, Brendan won the wool bale rolling competition 😃
Unfortunately, Quilpie was booked out or inaccessible due to the mud, so too was Charleville... it was looking like the side of the road tonight but we managed to get a spot 100km out west at Eromanga. Dinosaurs and oil fields.
When we arrived, the bloke checking us in was pretty much "WTF are you doing out here..." (there's nothing out here) 😳 I wasn't really sure which way to go with that 😆
Anyway, it's a bed with a hot shower, which is great because it's been 3 days 🙄
As I do, down to the pub to support the local. I found a map 🤓
