"Ghan" somewhere

Rise n shine bright n early - 6am - for sunrise at Marla. Mini egg and bacon rolls for a brekky snack. Brunch today. Smoked trout on a potato frittata. Finke River. Arrived into Alice Springs around 1.30pm and jumped on a bus to Simpson Gap for a wander. Pretty cool geology. After Simpson Gap, to fill in time, the bus driver decided to take us on a driving tour around town. He pointed out Maccas, dominos, woolies, kmart 😒 what was worse, people were taking photos, particularly of "Australia's busiest KFC"!... WTF

FINALLY! 3 years in the making, we are on the Ghan! Riding gold class in a single... umm... they call it a cabin, it's the size of a shoebox, a kids shoebox. Anyway, after the entire carriage finished cracking up over the "cabin" size we pulled out ahead of schedule then headed down to the bar to quench our thirst, and the dining car for some tasty nom noms. Following that, I did what I do best.....napped. Finally! 😃😁 Oh oh...where's the rest of the cabin!? Lounge car Lunch menu Nap 😁

We supported the local establishment last night 🍽🍺 for tea, then kept warmish around the fire pit 🔥  Today I was up around 5.30am (not by choice) and noticed the runway lights were on... 🚁? Apparently a small plane came and left just prior... I didn't hear a thing 🙄 Dived straight back into the sleeping bag. Thankfully I had a hot water bottle overnight  A tad on the coolish side this morning 🥶 - don't let the sunshine fool you - so it was a definite porridge breakfast! Pretty much a driving day today 😴 Once we arrived we quickly hit up Snowys (camping porn shop) before it closed 🏕😃

FINALLY! 3 years in the making. Adelaide-bound for the Ghan. Took off... made it to the Bridgy pub for a banging lunch before meeting Pumpy and Bren at Nhill for tonight's camp 🥶 it's going to be a wee chilly.
